WEB 3.0 AND WOMEN’S SPORT SPOTLIGHT
Our top 3 projects this month, hailing from New Zealand, USA and UK:
#1 New Zealand Rugby and Black Ferns Enter Web 3.0!
The Rugby Women’s World Cup is underway in New Zealand! In a show of support for the Black Ferns and women’s sport, New Zealand Rugby Commercial purchased 33 World of Women Galaxy NFTs and joined the World of Women (WoW) community. The 33 NFTs represent the 32 Black Ferns players, with the final NFT representing fans supporting them during the Rugby World Cup. Not only is New Zealand Rugby aligning with a global Web 3.0 community that stands for equality and inclusion, but it’s also a tactic to engage and learn about Web 3.0. Cheers to that!
#2 Angel City FC Keeps Innovating With NFTs!
When Angel City FC played their first-ever home match in Los Angeles on 29 April 2022, we loved receiving our inaugural “Kickoff NFT”. This collectible was airdropped to fans, for free, as a “proof of fandom” and entry to the Angel City Web3 adventure. Fast forward to the end of the season at the beginning of October 2022 and Angel City FC awarded Kickoff NFT holders with a special (and free) “In The Books”, a collection of the biggest plays, goals, and moments during the team’s first NWSL season. Angel City FC is building a Web 3.0 community for NFT collectors to access unique content and is steadily establishing the foundations for future NFT activations and privileged. Bravo ACFC!
#3 Team GB Athlete and NFT Artist, Naomi Metgzer, Headlining at NFT London!
Naomi Metzger is both the current 10X British Triple Jump Champion and NFT artist with her collection, AfroChicks, which celebrates black women’s hair and provides an inclusive community for NFT holders and supports under-funded athletes. Used to big stages, Naomi is about to take to another stage next month, NFT London, where she will talk about “how athletes can utilise NFTs”. What an inspiration - on and off the athletics track!
